Challenge

New Orleans is home to some of the best fine dining seafood restaurants in the country. For locals and tourists alike, New Orleans seafood is much more than just food; it’s truly a part of the culture of the city. New Orleans Fish House approached us to help revolutionize the B2B sale of fresh seafood purchasing by chefs and restaurateurs through an innovative mobile app.

Solution

Creating a great shopping experience was the key to building a successful tool for customers. With that in mind we created innovative tools like one-click re-ordering and the ability to make favorite lists, so chefs can spend less time buying and more time running their business.

Wireframing the Admin System

There were two major components of the admin system that were critical for success. The first was communicating to customers what product is available on a daily basis through inventory management. The second was to streamline the fulfillment process with better internal management tools.

Connecting With Customers

Because the seafood industry is an organic and constantly fluctuating market depending on season and what’s being caught, notifications need to be quickly pushed out to specific customers when items are specials or when a new season begins. These powerful tools allow salespeople to keep chefs up to date and connected.

Communicating with the customer about specific order details allows a level of service and attention to detail that is unrivaled by other suppliers.

The Fish House admin panel allows salespeople to better perform their jobs through easy directory access as well as view historical order data.

Streamlining Orders

As the busiest fulfiller of fresh restaurant fish in the city, I knew streamlining the internal fulfillment process was critical to success. I designed a system where employees could easily browse orders and quickly view well organized order sheets. Using large text with a clear visual hierarchy makes the sheets incredibly easy for employees to read translating into better accuracy for order fulfillment. The beauty of custom software design is often not in the forward facing website, but in the often overlooked business processes that enhance a company from the ground up.

Customer Facing Mobile App

Because there are many mobile apps that already exist for ordering food I collected interfaces I knew were familiar to our target demographic, allowing us to build on existing affordances.

A Clean User Interface

The mobile ordering app utilizes an intuitive navigation and re-ordering features for an enhanced shopping experience. Beautiful photos of product throughout the app display the high quality items available for purchase. Autocomplete search forms and clear categories allow customers to explore the app by searching directly or browsing items to see what’s available.

Most importantly for restaurateurs who often want the same items for their menu, there is the ability to view and re-order past purchases and create favorite lists.
